Since 2013, Kruso has been helping the North Denmark Region optimize their digital platform. Through upgrades and close collaboration, we’ve ensured modern solutions that meet the region’s growing needs and future digital challenges.
The North Denmark Region consists of 11 municipalities and serves over 580,000 residents in northern Denmark. The region provides public services in healthcare and handles cross-regional development in close cooperation with the municipalities. This is managed across approximately 60 websites. The collaboration between Kruso and the North Denmark Region dates back to 2013, and new, exciting initiatives in digital transformation are still in the works.
In 2013, Kruso developed a custom CMS-solution for the North Denmark Region, a digital multisite platform capable of managing all relevant subsites in one solution. The system was built on Sitecore and integrates with several of the region's IT systems. However, after 8 years, the extended Sitecore support was about to expire, and the entire solution needed an upgrade to maintain scalability and meet evolving digital needs.
In 2021, Kruso began optimizing the North Denmark Region’s platform. The update, planned collaboratively, included a new UX and design, an upgrade of the code from ASP to MVC, and a CMS migration to the latest version. The comprehensive work has spanned the last three years, and with the region implementing new design standards, future adjustments will be necessary. Kruso is also refining the SharePoint integration to ensure Word documents are correctly converted and displayed with optimal clarity on the site.
Additionally, Kruso’s work involves updating the site's web accessibility to meet modern standards. This involves ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, can navigate and interact with the website without barriers. Through updates to structure, design, and functionality, Kruso ensures that the site complies with the latest guidelines, enhancing the user experience while supporting compliance with legal requirements.
The region's websites originally ran on Sitecore 8.2, so the CMS system was upgraded to Sitecore 10.3. While this transition came with unforeseen challenges, Kruso's strong collaboration with the North Denmark Region helped ensure a smooth resolution of issues, maintaining a focus on content management system (CMS) optimization and responsive design for improved user experiences.
